KISHON: The Israeli military says it’s preparing to deploy the kosher salt that has been used for centuries to fight disease in Israel.
The Israeli military said it’s planning to deploy a new type of salt that is designed to fight the spread of tuberculosis.
It’s the first time that the military has deployed kosher salt for battle.
Israel is one of the most extreme exporters of the disease-causing bacterium, and many of the world’s major hospitals have long relied on it to treat tuberculosis.
The military said in a statement Monday that the new salt will be deployed in an experiment to determine how it works.
The military has said it will use the new type only for internal use and not for the military.
The new salt, manufactured by Tel Aviv-based Kishon Group, is meant to be used on patients who have not yet recovered from TB and is a replacement for the old salt.
The Kishons have previously deployed salt in a similar way to what the military is now doing with the new version of kosher salt.
