By GURU VILLA and PAUL VILLANOSAALIOTARANANAAABANA:The use of ghee powder as a dietary supplement has been gaining popularity in the last few years as the Indian government has set a target to reduce the number of deaths due to COVID-19 by the end of the year.
According to an article published in The Hindu, the article is based on the research conducted by the National Center for Food Security and Nutrition (NCFSN) in Delhi, which said that the use of the powder as an ingredient in cooking is increasing due to the demand for health benefits.
The NCFSN said that over the last two years, the consumption of ghees powder has been increasing in the market and the demand has been there for the supply of the ghee to be used as a food supplement.
The powder is used to make ghee for the home cooking and in the preparation of ginseng tea.
According a report by NCFSNs health department, the usage of gherakhi powder in the home is increasing by an average of 1.5 per cent every year.
It is also used to supplement ghee-based beverages.
